Seventh Steering Committee Meeting

 

Seventh Steering Committee (SC) Meeting of Environment Friendly Local Governance Programme (EFLGP) was held under the Chairpersonship of Mr. Gopi Krishna. Khanal, Joint Secretary in the MoFALD on 20th February 2017.  Altogether 21 participants including SC members, MoFALD Officials, EFLGP team were present in the meeting. The major agenda discussed in the meeting include,

i.                     to review the implementation status of Sixth SC meeting decisions,

ii.                   to review the physical and financial progress of EFLGP till end of Magh, 2073 (Mid February, 2017)

iii.                to discuss on possibility of low cost extension modality of EFLGP beyond July 2017.

 

Under Secretary and Programme Manager of EFLGP - Mr. Guru Prasad Subedi presented physical progress of two preceding Fiscal years against programme total target for 3 years which showed appreciable progress despite various obstacles faced during implementation.  In addition, he shared the physical and financial progess till Mid February, 2017. It was found that the programme has gained momentum in implementation at the field level which was found to be comparatively higher than the progress during the same period of FY 2072/73. Similarly, Deputy Programme Manager Mr. Ekraj Sigdel presented the field reflection and shared that EFLGP is contributing to improve livelihood of community and supporting them to adapt with climate change and disaster risk via environment conservation. Also the results have gradually started to be realized.

After the presentation, there were discussions regarding the coordination at the district level for implementing the programme, contribution of other stakeholders as well for the progress achieved in EFLGP. Also it was discussed for 1 year low cost extension of EFLGP with support from DFID.

 

Finally, Chairperson of SC Mr. Khanal thanked all the participants of the meeting and said that EFLGP is a successful programme and for its extension, he said that initiations will be done to arrange meeting with high level team from MoFALD and DFID.
